The venerable GS is the cornerstone of the Adventure and Touring Market. And for good reason, with its mix of off road credibility and long distance comfort it is a true “do it all” motorcycle.
Of course the GS line dates back to the early 80s when the Dakar was in its infancy and bikes tended to have a multi purpose nature about them. In fact the phrase “GS” meansGelände/Straße which translated from German is Off Road/ Road.
This dual purpose nature still holds true today and although the current iterations of the BMW R1200GS have gained a bit of weight and luxuries such as anti lock brakes, cruise control heated grips they are still very capable off road in the right hands. Not to mention their proven reliability and low maintenance that comes from having a drive shaft drive system and the lower revving sturdy boxer engine is a great plus when considering travelling long distances.
For long distance travelling you need to be able to see the GS 1200 satnav and make sense of it. For this there is no better than a modern smartphone using one of the latest navigation apps that provides instant road and traffic updates that conventional GPS navigation systems cannot compete with. It’s also extremely handy to have quick access to your music selection via Bluetooth. That will really help crunch those long Motorway miles!
At Ultimateaddons we have spent years considering and evaluating what makes the best smartphone case that can deliver exactly what motorcyclists need. With our GS 1200 phone case for Samsung Galaxy and iPhone you can be sure your expensive phone is protected no matter what happens on the ride. It is not all about protection and we took functionality very seriously. We want you to have the best possible experience using our waterproof, dustproof and shockproof smartphone case.
At Ultimateaddons we have developed a modular mounting system to attach our rugged smartphone cases to any motorcycle out there. This means we have a few different ways of mounting your Samsung Galaxy or iPhone smartphone to your BMW R1200GS.
For the GS 1200 phone mount our Helix Swivel attachment is a very robust and versatile mounting for our Waterproof Smartphone cases. Quick to attach requiring no tools it looks very neat on the centre of the handlebar and allows for the GS 1200 phone mount to be easily positioned in portrait or landscape as well as allowing for a variety of viewing angles. It is also great value and is one of our most budget friendly attachments.
This is essentially a more permanent upgrade to using the Helix Swivel Strap. It replaces one of the 4 handlebar clamp mounting bolts with a special longer bolt that has a 25mm ball attachment at the top. By using this it keeps the GS 1200 phone case very low and allows for positioning in either portrait or landscape as well as tilting for the best viewing angle.
The extremely versatile mirror attachment is perfect for Riders who prefer to use the tank space for a tank bag. It allows the smartphone to be mounted up out of the way of the motion of the handlebars and places the smartphone at the perfect eye level for riding. To fit it requires the removal and reinstallation of the left hand mirror.
The accessory bar attachment allows the smartphone tough case to be placed perfectly in line of sight and within easy access of the hands to make changes to your route easily. The extra sturdy metal clamp is held in place by high quality stainless steel bolts that won't corrode or fail and the whole clamp has a high quality brushed finish. This is the perfect fit and forget option for a GS 1200 phone case.
