I am your average Adventure Bike Rider
What do I mean by that? Well, I have the bike, the ambition and the imagination. But what I don’t have is the time and money - a familiar tale for many adventure bike riders.
I have been riding since passing my CBT at 16 years old and I’ve loved every minute of it. A few years ago, my passion started to wane, and I found that my bike spent more time in the garage than out of it. Naturally, life got in the way, as it does for so many of us. So, I decided to start an adventure bike blog with the sole intention of forcing myself to get out on my bike more and make the most of my investment.
That weekend I packed up my bike, mapped out a route and headed east for a weekend of riding and camping in the South and East of England, I’ve never looked back.
The website has definitely worked for me and I’ve accomplished so much more on two wheels than I ever did before. Now I’m trying to make it work for others like me who need a bit of inspiration to get away from their day jobs and get some adventure in them, even if it’s just for a weekend!
Most weekends, you’ll find me out riding and exploring the trail and green lanes around Devon and Cornwall whatever the weather. I’m aiming to ride as much of the TET (TransEuroTrail) as I can over the next few years, writing up my travels along the way, whilst providing a bit of inspiration and education to fellow weekend adventurers.
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ mounted to the accessory crossbar on my Tenere 700 using the 8-16mm Ultimateaddons mount. This mounts my phone just above the clocks putting the phone right in my eyeline so I don't have to keep looking down at my handlebars. It also completes that Dakar-styled look that Yamaha was going for when they designed the bike.
Google Maps is my go to app for road navigation but the OS Maps app is great for when you're off the beaten track, exploring and finding new green lanes to ride. When I'm riding a section of the TET, I plug the GPX route into the OsmAnd which makes navigating the combination of road and byways a breeze.
If you’re ever in the Southwest of England, get in touch and I’ll show you the best riding spots, on and off road!
