At Ultimateaddons we have created a modular system that allows mounting of our rugged, waterproof, dustproof and shockproof smartphone cases to virtually any motorcycle ever made. However because we have so many attachment systems available on the surface it can seem a little daunting to work out what is best for your specific motorcycle. To choose the perfect mounting system for your motorcycle is actually a simple process and this guide will breakdown our specific attachments and help you make the perfect choice for your bike!
Firstly our attachment systems are broken down into two categories. First we have the universal systems that wrap or clamp around a free section of handlebar and allow you to choose the mounting location according to how much free area there is on your handlebars.
Secondly we have our much more specific mounting systems that use a special mounting point on the motorcycle. These tend to be a more bespoke option for bikes that have a different handlebar setup such as sportsbikes and large tourers where there may not be a lot of space available on the handlebars to mount your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Let's start off by taking a look at our wrap around handlebar mounting options!
Universal wrap around Handlebar options
Our simplest and quickest mounting options consist of glass reinforced plastic lockings straps that will fit bars with a diameter from 21mm to 40mm. This allows the attachment to be placed either in the centre of the handlebars where the bars are thickest or up near the controls where the handlebar diameter is thinner.
This is one of our most basic and value attachments. Don’t be fooled though as it is tough, strong and reliable just like our cases! Utilises a 17mm ball joint to allow for viewing angle adjustment. The toothed strap interfaces with a key inside to allow virtually any diameter between 21-40mm. Tension is released by a simple lever allowing removal when needed. Please be aware that our 17mm ball system is not compatible with our 25mm ball system.
A heavy duty helix twist retention strap replaces the quick thumb release of the standard locking strap. This is one of our most low profile systems so is ideal for when space is at a premium. Allows rotation of the phone from landscape to portrait.
Helix Swivel Locking Strap 21-40mm
The same ultra secure retention system as with the Helix strap but includes the addition of a 17mm ball joint allowing a much better range of positions for the angle of the phone case. Not compatible with our 25mm ball mounts!
This is our non strap based universal mounting system. Made of tough reinforced glass plastic it is relatively low profile and installs using a thumb screw and hinge. Allows rotation of the phone from landscape to portrait.
This is a low profile system made of reinforced glass glass plastic. As it installs with screws it is a more permanent option than the strap systems. Utilises a 17mm ball joint to allow for viewing angle adjustment. Please be aware that our 17mm ball system is not compatible with our 25mm ball system.
Our Ultimateaddons U-bolt Handlebar attachment is extremely heavy duty and is made of an ultra strong aluminium and steel construction.This attachment is suitable for a wide range of motorcycles with a handlebar diameter being under 20mm across and it does not require much space on the handlebars. The U-bolt kit is supplied with two different size U pieces 16-20mm / 25-32mm.
Special mounting options
The following attachment systems attach to a specific mounting area on each bike. These cover many bikes but cater for bikes that do not have spare bar space or riders who wish to keep the phone case system off of the handlebars.
3m adhesive motorcycle attachments
These mounts utilise a 3m self adhesive patch and allow Your Ultimateaddons smartphone case to be attached to flat or slightly contoured surfaces such below the handlebar area on scooters.
There are 3 styles to choose from including a large option, a small option for limited space and a rotating style that allows a number of viewing angles.
Motorcycle mirror / crossbar 8-16mm attachment
Our motorcycle mirror crossbar mounting attachment is designed to fit on mirrors or any smaller diameter bars such as can be found on the fairings and inside the windscreen area of many popular motorcycles. Will attach to bars with a diameter of 8-16mm. This attachment utilises our 25mm ball so when used in conjunction with our 3 inch extender practically any smartphone orientation can be arranged. Perfect for fitting to the windscreen or accessory bars of the current crop of adventure touring motorcycles such as the Honda Africa Twin and Yamaha Tenere T700.
Motorcycle mirror v2 8-10mm mount
Our motorcycle mirror stem mounting attachment is designed to go between your motorcycle mirror and the fitting in the top of your brake or clutch lever. This attachment is perfect for when you have limited space on your bars or like your phone close to your hands for easy access. This attachment is designed with the 25mm / 1" ball head which can be used with a wide range of adapters.
Motorcycle / Scooter m10 stud attachment
The M10 Stud motorcycle mounting attachment has been designed to allow you to replace one of your existing M10 bolts or M10 mirrors. This mounting attachment is also suitable for a range of BMW motorcycles including the K1200 that have a hidden thread below the BMW logo on the yoke. It is also great for sports bikes that have fairing mounted mirrors but have the m10 threaded holes available on the lever clamps.
Motorcycle top clamp mounting attachment
This is one of our most popular 25mm motorcycle mounting attachments and for good reason! This attachment offers a very neat and tidy solution for mounting a range of devices to your motorcycles handlebars. Many motorcycles utilise a four bolt clamping system for attaching the handlebars to the fork yoke and this attachment substitutes one of these bolts. We supply a new high tensile steel bolt that is load rated and integrates one of our 25mm ball mountings on top. This allows you to easily attach our smartphone or action camera mounts straight to the cross bar area of your bike. This is an ideal solution for bikes that have too little bar space for our other options.
Motorcycle fork stem sports bike attachment
Motorcycles such as sports bikes and tourers tend to use a clip-on style system of handlebar which have a very limited amount of clear bar space and also due to the shape of most sports bike fairings will cause interference if used. Our motorcycle fork stem mounting attachment is designed to use the empty stem bolt hole that is used to tension the fork yoke. Due to this being straight in the middle of the yoke it gives a low profile and super neat mounting solution that you can utilise for either your Ultimateaddons waterproof and shockproof smartphone case or an action cam of your choice. This makes it an ideal mount for recording your best lap at the track day or your trip over the Stelvio pass!
